I think the slight freak-out factor is intentional. The feeling I get is that she's going a little crazy from the lack of sleep and her broken heart.

EDIT: That concept sketch certainly looks promising though. (my gut reaction)

Is it just me, or does anyone else like the crazy look that Kathrin has in the fourth panel?

P.S. If Natani's new cloak looks anything like that, I will be amazed.

Hurt, sad... now edging resentful with overtones of vindictiveness.

Between her eyes in the fourth and seventh panels, the image that comes to mind for me.... Is actually that Kat-as-Archmage artwork. Starting to look more feasible... These feelings, they lead to the dark side of the force.

Seems Kat has still denied fixing the heart patch on her apron. Why is she still wearing it after so long anyways? (Asides for the obvious symbolism.)

It looks deliciously terrifying, minus the bags under her eyes and all. Almost makes me think of her turning feral.
