What's the deal with airline peanuts? I mean they are dry and salty. Jerry Seinfeld. So what's your deal with airline peanuts?

Not really, other than airline peanuts. :P

My thoughts on the matter: They're designed to be cheap and easily mass-produceable. That, in my mind, is why they are salty (preservative), and why they are dry (lengthen shelf life). They've probably been sitting there a while.
