Twokinds 10th Anniversary Contest

#1 Post by Tom »

Hello everyone! It is I, your glorious overlor- er, I mean humble artist. I thought for such a momentous occasion as this, I aught to do something a little extra special, just for you forum guys and gals! So here's the deal:

If you'd like to participate, all you have to do is go through the archives and find your favorite page of Twokinds. With ten years worth of content, there's plenty to pick from! Then include a link to it in your post below and, you know, maybe say why you picked it! I will choose three at random and they will receive one of the following prizes: a digital copy of Pixie Panic and Feral Hunger, a signed copy of the Nekocon Print and Bookmark, and the grand prize, a custom sketch of your favorite character.

Please also feel free to use this as an opportunity to talk about your favorite moment in the comic, or simply to reminisce, or whatever you want! Just have fun doing it, that's all I ask. I look forward to seeing what you guys pick and why. I genuinely would like to know!

Thanks again for being such dedicated readers, and good luck!

Edit: Oops, almost forgot to mention! I will be choosing the submissions... hm... let's say one week from today, on October 29th.

October 29th Edit:

It has been one week since the contest began, and the winners have now been chosen! But first, thank you all for participating in this little game! Regardless of whether or not you've won anything, I hope you've enjoyed looking through everyone's favorite pages and reminiscing about the past ten years of Twokinds. :flora: Since there were so many participants, I decided to expand the prize pool from 3 to 10 - one winner for each year of Twokinds, plus the grand prize!

HOW THE WINNERS ARE CHOSEN:

Winners are chosen completely at random, so everyone has a fair chance. I calculated the number of posts on this thread (minus the two I've made) and then run it through a random number generator a few times. That number then correlates with your post number. I have included below the pages picked, so you can check them out for yourself!

WINNERS:

Grand Prize Winner: MUDPUNISHER

Prize: Custom sketch of favorite character
MUDPUNISHER wrote:I can't say it's my legitimate "faveorite", but it is the one that means the most to me, my entry'd have to be the very first page, not only is it the introduction that led me into a great comic, it's what made me a furry, a gateway to meeting new friends, a new place on the web to hang out, and in all honesty, a new era in my life. It got me to open up a little and forgive a few people under the thought "If trace could I can." So really, thank you Tom, you AND mark have entertained me over the past year and have cheered me up with whAt you two do whenever I needed it. So, thank you.

Prize: A signed copy of the NekoCon Print and bookmark OR an ebook of the side comics Prank Pixie Panic, Feral Hunger, and Misspell - your choice!

Congratulations to those who were chosen by the random number generator!

HOW TO CLAIM YOUR PRIZE:

I will be sending PMs to the winners soon to request information. Prizes will be delivered after I return from NekoCon on Nov. 4th.

For the rest of you, I still enjoyed going through your choices, and had a lot of fun reading all of your comments. Thank you for taking the time to contribute! You've all really helped to make this anniversary event something special. If you haven't already, take some time to go through everyone's picks and see for yourself what others considered the best. And also, of course, feel free to comment with your own favorite if you feel like it. There may not be a prize, but I'm certainly happy to hear what you have to say!

I know i said this many times before. But ones again thank you Tom. Two kinds over the years became such a good, important part of my life. You make life so much easier week after week. No matter how cheesy i may sound.(Or creepy which i swear i'm trying my best not to be.) You touched me personally when you show us how much you really care for us Tom. I can"t thank you enough Tom. Here's for another amazing 10 more years buddy. I'm so grateful you spend your time to write and talk to us. As for the Contest. Is ok if i post a link to a Mini kind comic? The Christmas Missiletoe comic not only funny and cute. I have a personal connection to it. It's the comic i sent to my my close friend that got her into Two kinds in the first place. http://twokinds.deviantart.com/art/Happ ... -346810317

Well, I guess my favorite page would have to be a rather recent one. http://twokinds.keenspot.com/archive.php?p=732 I don't know if it is the large amount of dialogue, the many facial expressions, or the amount of story progression shoved into the one page. But when I first saw this page I just really enjoyed it. :flora: Anyway, I'd like to thank you for producing such a terrific story, and for being able to continue it for this long! And still going! It's so totally rad!

By far my favourite comic is when Kat is chased by Flora after calling her "tubby": http://twokinds.keenspot.com/archive.php?p=437 .

There is actually very good reasoning behind my choice. This was the first ever Twokinds comic scene that I saw while searching the internet for comics to read back in 2011. I was so interested in it that I went and found the rest. It was also actually my gateway into the Furry fandom, but that's another story. Either way, I love the comic and I am so glad that I found it (it proved to be the best procrastination tool) X-P Thankyou Tom for the many hours of enjoyment, and heres to another successful 10 years! :raine:

Well, I'll definitely make a post later tonight, but I guess I just wanted to thank you.
Thank you for creating content for free, for putting up with the stresses of being a content-creator, for writing such a good story, and for being great to your comic's community. You've done what many people couldn't have done, and you deserve to be where you are now.
Congratulations, and happy 10th anniversary.

I'd have to say http://twokinds.keenspot.com/archive.php?p=731 is my favorite; I loved Raine messing with Red's mind, and Zen sleeping in the tree at the end was hilarious.

Although I can't say I've followed this... This... Masterpiece for ten years, I have followed it since '04. I have loved every page ever released, hung off every cliffhanger, read a page and immediately began counting down to the next one. Twokinds is my favourite comic, better than any big shot company mag. Thank-you Tom for ten (nine for me :P) awesome years.

As for my entry, my favourite part was the cover for "Mutiny". Yes, its not technically a comic page, but every time I read Twokinds and encounter that cover, shivers run their way down my spine. Those shivers stayed with me every day until the next page was released. Once again, thank-you Tom, thank-you.

I'm new and french so... Hope you won't mind if I lack vocabulary so much and maybe I won't be able to explain well why I like this page of the comic but... Here it is, my favorite page ever : http://twokinds.keenspot.com/archive.php?p=503
Because this time Natani was still first on the race ! Yes I like Keith and Natani so much and I was almost sure they'll be in a close relationship. The question is : which kind of relationship exactly ? And this is still a question without any clear answer ! >o<
So I'm still waiting to get more, more and more informations about all this to finally be able to have a proper answer to it. One day ! XD

Twokinds is amazing. Thanks for everything, Tom!
For me, the entire Confessions chapter has been the best so far. People coming out with secrets, emotions running wild. Amazing art style.
Highlights for me:
- Raine being discovered and finally accepted for who she is.
- Natani explaining things to Kat
- Flora revealing pregnancy to Trace
- Laura!
- Natani and Keith getting closer
The best at the time when I read it, though, was definitely
this
I really liked the whole Raine being (part-?) Keidran thing, forcing "Red" to re-evaluate his perspective. This was simply hilarious! Nice to have April Fool's where you can just be silly for a change.

This comic has to be on the top of them where trace makes me laugh by his randomness. He headbutts the window to get flora ^M^

Heh, my favorite page would be http://twokinds.keenspot.com/archive.php?p=345 as it was the point when I became a shipper for Keith and Natani. It made me realize that their relationship was, as Avwolf put it, a slow burn that I was willing to follow to it's pinnacle. Five years later I'm still here watching the embers.

Tom, I can't tell you how impressed and grateful I am that Twokinds has become such a successful and entertaining webcomic. I've loved every new page that you've published and if I had the money, I would horde your merchandise like I belonged in an asylum. Ha ha ha! *-*

http://cdn.twokinds.keenspot.com/comics/20131021.jpg

Anyway, I could say that every new page of the comic is my new favorite, but the newest one that you've posted marking the end of chapter 16 really is my favorite for so many reasons! It's the culmination of so many different aspects of both the series itself and the adventure that this comic has been and will most certainly continue to be. The return of (relative) peace in the 2kinds world, the public reveal of Flora's "mysterious" pregnancy, the closure gained by Keith after coming to terms with Laura's fate, the continuously growing and now intimate relationship between Keith and Natani that has always been my favorite pair in the series, and most especially the improvement that you've made as an artist over the years from those three simple sketches to the beautifully colored and immersing world you're able to draw for us. I'm always in awe of the story that you're able to provide for your fans on a consistent basis, and for that I say thank you for all of your hard work.

Congratulations Tom! Here's to another 10 years!

First things first: Thank you, Tom. Thank you for ten years of TwoKinds. I'm just around for 4 years now, but I loved this story from the very first panel and I'm looking forward to everything that's going to happen from now on. I think it's amazing how much effort you are putting into this without forgetting about your readers. I don't think (at least I don't remember) you ever missed an update without keeping us informed what happend.
Again, thank you for the hard work ^_^

Now for the page: It's a recent one
Since Flora was sure that she's pregnant and with all that black smoke hallucination stuff going on, I was reall, really worried that Trace would doubt Flora once she tells him. To see that he truly trusts her without a second thought and that he, on top of that, tells her the truth about that black smoke, was an absolutely wonderful moment to me. It shows just how close the two of them have grown over time :')
(but I guess, as soon as the baby is born, this will become my favorite page ^^)
